Obituary of Gail Boltz

Gail A. Boltz, 55, of Hanover section of Nanticoke, passed away Saturday evening, November 7, 2020, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born September 18, 1965 in Orange, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Edward R. Smolar Sr. and Marie (Grohs) Smolar. She was raised in New Jersey until the family moved to the area in 1975. Gail graduated from John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke, class of 1983 and attended Luzerne County Community College. She was employed by Navient and previously Sallie Mae, Hanover Township for over twenty years. Her health forced her to go on medical leave earlier this year. Gail was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, the Quoit Club, the 400 Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 834, all of Nanticoke. Gail was a true 80’s girl. She loved all 80’s music, but her biggest love was Bon Jovi and she was an avid fan of the New York Jets. . She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. (Harry) Boltz Jr., with whom she shared twenty-three years of marriage until his death on January 1, 2017. Surviving is a brother, Edward Smolar and wife, Anita of Roselle Park, NJ; a sister, Diane Clewell of Wilkes-Barre; her companion, Ted Linkiewicz; mother-in-law, Patricia Boltz, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke. Following CDC guidelines, those attending are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gail’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
