Margaret “Peggy” Armstrong RN, 92, of Alden Station section of Newport Township, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Born May 12, 1932, in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Anna Rokosz Armstrong. Peggy was a graduate of Newport Township High School, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from College Misericordia. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Veterans Medical Center, Lyons NJ. She loved to socialize, go to church and praying the rosary, spend time with her friends, go out to dinner, attend cultural events, and play scrabble. Peggy was a faithful member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, formerly Holy Trinity Church. She was very active for many years in the church choir, and volunteering, making pierogies during the church festival and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was also active with the Scranton Diocese Women’s Catholic Council, and the National Women’s Catholic Council, where she traveled throughout the United States and was a past president. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Armstrong. Surviving are nephews, Mark and Gale Armstrong of Texas; Joseph Armstrong of Sheatown; and Stephen Armstrong of Slatington; nieces, Carole Tellie of Alden; Gail Doknovitch of Warrior Run; a sister-in-law, Donna Armstrong; and step-nephews, Jeffrey and Steven Cardimona, and many great-nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 am from Dinelli Family Funeral Home 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Sheatown. Viewing and visitation hours will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the transferal to church.
